There is a buzz of excitement in our community as families are welcoming home their cousins, their siblings, aunts, uncles and everybody from around the country to Lumbee Homecoming. We are so happy to welcome our families home, who may have moved away or maybe working in other parts of the nation or in the world. During American Indian Heritage Month, people from across the state people are having the opportunity to learn about our native culture. The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina was welcomed at North Carolina Wesleyan University on Monday, November 6, 2023 to participate in their Native American Heritage Month Powwow Showcase. Attendee witnessed American Indian Culture through dancing, singing, and native flute. The event showcased the beauty, grace of color, and movement as each dance was performed.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center in Maxton. Hundreds of people have already passed through to enjoy the Lumbee Tribe Winter Solstice light event. Supplies are running low at this time because we’ve had so many people come through. Reminder…..the light event will continue on Saturday and Sunday this weekend but there will be no goodies, but the lights are beautiful so please come out to see enjoy them. | Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina
