Wildlife World: This juvenile common loon was found emaciated and dehydrated by a staff member. Bloodwork revealed an extremely high uric acid concentration and screening radiograph revealed no internal hooks but congestion in its lungs, which is indicative of a minor fungal infection. With some nebulizing and systemic anti fungal treatments along with continued supportive care she is showing signs of improvement and should be ready for release this weekend.
