I wanted to share an interview I did in July of 2009 that truly left a lasting impression on me. I had the honor of sitting down with Florence Shutsy-Reynolds — “Shutsy” — a remarkable WWII pilot who served with the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). During the war, 1,074 women became WASP pilots, serving as civilian volunteers. While they did not fly combat missions overseas, their work was absolutely critical to the war effort.
