Prodigal Son, a powerful ballet returning FEB 28 on the All Balanchine program, was George Balanchine’s last work for Ballet Russes in 1929. It opened during that company’s final Paris season, long before Balanchine co-founded New York City Ballet in 1948. While almost a century old, it remains a vibrant and important cornerstone of the NYCB repertory.
