It's a slow and quiet movie (except for the Battle of the Somme sequences) but the life of a young scholar/bookworm and budding philologist is unlikely to generate much screen excitement. Harry Gilby who plays the boy Tolkien shares a striking resemblance with Nicholas Hoult.
