Dec 22, 2009 · Glendale's Civil War Memorial Chapel is one of the country’s most prominent Civil War memorials, and was built to honor the Akron natives who served in that war. The Bell Tower was built in 1883 of rusticated stone and exposed timber and holds a 700 pound bell.

Glendale Cemetery was founded in 1839 by Dr. J.D. Commins. Here statues of prominent citizens, an avenue of stately mausoleums and a collection of headstones tell the story of Akron’s past.
