Dustin and Jennifer Nehl claimed to be from Oregon’s ‘Roaring River Fire Department’ – then officials realized it didn’t exist

Two people were arrested on suspicion of dressing up as firefighters and trying to enter a Palisades fire evacuation zone in their own phony fire truck, authorities said Sunday. Sheriff’s deputies approached the two people in the truck as they tried to enter the zone.

Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

The Lilac Fire triggered multiple rounds of evacuations in Bonsall, a small community about 45 minutes north of San Diego. "Immediate threat to life," read an urgent warning from Cal Fire issued shortly before 5 a.m. "This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW. The area is lawfully closed to public access."

The Los Angles County Sheriff's Department said the couple were wearing CAL-Fire T-shirts under their gear, which included helmets and radios.
