The Texas attorney general was on the road this week, speaking to adoring crowds about the importance of defeating their mutual enemies.

In the lead-up to the Nov. 5 election, Attorney General Ken Paxton ramped up efforts to put his imprint on rules governing elections in Texas and other states. Paxton filed briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of an Arizona law requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and Virginia’s late purge of suspected noncitizen voters.

The Texas attorney general said he is frustrated with the longstanding tradition that awards the minority party at least some committee chairmanships.
