The Detroit Tigers could have a significant problem on their hands as they try to navigate how they are going to get innings for the rest of the year. On Wednesday evening, the team delivered the devastating news that their young rookie star Jackson Jobe is undergoing Tommy John surgery after missing the last several weeks.

"He’s a very determined individual, and I have no question he’s going to work through this process," said Tigers general manager Jeff Greenberg.

Jobe has been sidelined since late May with a strained flexor tendon in his pitching elbow. Tommy John surgery typically entails a recovery period of 12 to 18 months, which means Jobe will miss at least a significant portion of the 2026 season, as well.
