THE ALL ENGLAND CLUB, LONDON — There are only two players who have been able to knock Ben Shelton out of Grand Slams this year: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. That’s good news and bad for Shelton, who exited Wimbledon in the quarterfinals Wednesday afternoon as Sinner sent him home, 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4.
Anisimova, 23, will return to Centre Court for Saturday's final against No. 8 Iga Światek, who steamrolled Belinda Bencic, 6-2, 6-0. Anisimova is trying to become the first American to win a Grand Slam in London since Serena Williams' seventh and final Wimbledon title in 2016.
Amanda Anisimova was doing her best to avoid thinking about Wimbledon after failing to qualify for the main draw. Now she has a final to prepare for.
