Thursday's reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 only showed the hardware playing one game: a new Mario Kart. The footage of the game wasn't long but there are some interesting details that sharp-eyed fans have noticed.

The DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe proved to be a smart way to keep interest in the game and tide fans over until Nintendo Switch 2.

Online mode was first introduced in Mario Kart Wii, but Mario Kart 8 didn't make many changes to its formula. It allows 12 players to join in online matchmaking, but aside from that, there's not a lot to it to make the online mode more interesting than racing against CPU opponents.
