Police estimate around £30,000 damage has been caused by suspected thefts of stones from the walls along the road between Rivington and Anglezarke.

The walls are also a vital part in keeping the embankments back and preventing vehicles leaving the carriageway in an accident. So far, the damage on the walls from the thefts is upwards of £30,000.
