Post office in Plains, Georgia, to be renamed to honor Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter - Jimmy Carter grew up in Plains, Georgia, and returned to the town after leaving the White House

PLAINS, Ga. (WALB) - The post office in Georgia will now go by a new name — The “President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter” post office. The dedication of the post office on July 2 honored the former president and first lady for their service and commitment to not only Plains, but to South Georgia and to the world.

PLAINS, Ga. — The Plains Post Office now officially bears the names of former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter following a dedication ceremony Wednesday morning that drew hundreds to the small Georgia town.
