ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor’s “No Kings” protest on Saturday largely took aim at President Donald Trump, but two of the event’s speakers went off script with a different message.

Between activism, election results and protest turnout, the prevailing political winds suggest the backlash to the president is real.

The only reported incident involved a 'No Kings' rally participant who threw water from an open bottle onto a pro-trump supporter.

Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, was struck at an anti-Trump rally in Utah after peacekeepers opened fire on another man who had pulled out an AR-15 style rifle.

NBC News' Jacob Soboroff reports from Los Angeles City Hall where thousands of protesters have gathered for a 'No Kings' protest against the Trump administration and ahead of the president's Washington D.

"We are here today in Tacoma saying we will not yield to that darkness in the smallest dimension," said former governor Jay Inslee.

The"No Kings" protests are planned to oppose what they see as Trump's power grab. The number of planned events is nearly double that of the April 5 "Hands Off" protest that saw millions of Americans turn out in big and small cities nationwide.
