Firefighters say that the fire is moving with a "rapid rate of spread," prompting evacuation orders for 3,000 Sylmar residents.

Within 15 minutes on Tuesday night the blaze exploded to more than 100 acres, jumped the 210 Freeway and began to spread in the Angeles National Forest.

Two more fires—the Hurst/Sylmar Fire and the Tamarack Fire — erupted on Tuesday evening in Los Angeles County, prompting evacuations and highway closures. Sylmar Fire After 10:30 p.m., officials issued mandatory evacuation orders for the Hurst Fire – also referred to as the Sylmar Fire.

"Firefighters held the containment within a pinned containment area and are successful, and we have established a perimeter," LAFD Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said.

Mandatory evacuations were lifted Thursday in the area impacted by the wind-driven Hurst Fire burning in the Sylmar area. As of Thursday, it was mapped at 671 acres, with 10% containment, according to Cal Fire.
