The Notre Dame Fighting Irish put together an impressive college football campaign in 2024, playing their way to the College Football Playoff national championship game before ultimately falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Notre Dame will keep independence for as long as possible, according to head coach Marcus Freeman, who only wishes to join a conference if the Fighting Irish are at a disadvantage

Freeman went on to acknowledge that Notre Dame hasn't ruled out joining a conference ever but left that possibility contingent on the program finding itself at serious enough disadvantage in its independence.
