Four-times champion Max Verstappen was runner-up, 2.843 seconds behind Piastri, after starting from pole at Jeddah's Corniche circuit but collecting a five-second penalty for a first corner clash with Piastri.

Oscar Piastri has his first lead in the Formula 1 world championship. Piastri took advantage of Max Verstappen’s five-second time penalty at the first corner of the race to take the lead during the race’s only green-flag pit stop cycle and win Sunday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

It’s the second night race in a row after last week’s Bahrain Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is the only driver to win in Jeddah twice.
