Before Timothée Chalamet played Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown," Dylan read the film's script out loud at a table read, one of the film's producers says.

In a year when the Amy Winehouse movie Back to Black showed just how wretched musical biopics can sometimes be, most critics and ticket-buyers seem pleased with James Mangold’s look at Bob Dylan’s early years in A Complete Unknown.

We may as well start referring to him as Bob Dyláan with his commitment to biopic excellence. As recalled by one of A Complete Unknown’s producers on an episode of The Town podcast, the non–Timothée Dylan had full approval of what became the film’s final script — meaningful involvement that was encouraged by director James Mangold.
