Dutch police forces intervened to disperse a protest in Amsterdam today, reportedly due to heightened tensions linked to recent events. Several demonstrators waving Palestinian flags were detained.

AMSTERDAM, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Dutch police said they took away more than 300 pro-Palestinian protesters who ignored a ban on demonstrations in Amsterdam on Sunday and detained 50 more following clashes involving Israeli soccer fans last week.

More than 100 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested by Dutch police in Amsterdam after they defied a demonstration ban put in place in the wake of clashes between Israeli football fans and people in the city,

Police detained pro-Palestinian protesters rallying in central Amsterdam on Wednesday in defiance of a ban imposed after violence stemming from a football match between Ajax and Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) -Amsterdam banned demonstrations for three days from Friday after overnight attacks on Israeli soccer supporters by what the mayor called "antisemitic hit-and-run squads", and Israel sent planes to the Netherlands to fly fans home.

Police in the Netherlands have made five new arrests over the violence that ensued after Ajax's game with Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday evening. Five people were taken to hospital after people on scooters carried out “hit-and-run” attacks on Israeli fans after the match.

Dutch police on Monday said they had arrested five more people for their suspected involvement in attacks on Israeli football supporters late last week which authorities have condemned as antisemitic.
