Aberg was the 36-hole leader at Torrey Pines a few weeks ago during the Farmers Insurance Open, but fell down the leaderboard after coming down with an illness. He's back to full health and showing out. The ace moved him to 6 under for the week and three back of leader Davis Thompson.

Ludvig Aberg made a splash almost immediately on Saturday during the third round of the Genesis Invitational. After a pair of pars to open his third round, the Texas Tech product only needed one shot, and some impressive backspin, on the Par 3 third hole to find the cup.

“It was rough for a while,” Aberg recalled Friday after shooting a 6-under 66 in the second round of the Genesis Invitational, which was shifted here due to the wildfires last month in Los Angeles. He tied for the low round of the day (and week) with Davis Thompson, who leads Scottie Scheffler by one shot with Aberg four back in a tie for fifth.
