Gervonta "Tank" Davis' history of slow starts nearly caught up to him. Davis' defense of his WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach Jr. ended in a stunning majority draw at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday. Two judges scored the fight 114-114 while a third judge scored it in Davis' favor 115-113.

It was thought Davis (30-0-1) would win via knockout. As expected, it was a low-output effort by Davis, who didn't secure a clear win. Roach (25-1-2) brought it to Davis through the fight, backing "Tank" up several times and punishing him with hooks and jabs.
