Flint City Council members haven’t been able to agree on who should be appointed to represent the city’s 3rd Ward since the late Quincy Murphy died on Sept. 29, but residents of the ward will vote in May and August to decide who completes his term.

Turner becomes the fourth candidate to enter the race. Incumbent mayor Tito Brown is seeking a third term. Derrick McDowell, owner of the Youngstown Flea, and John White, husband of seventh ward councilwoman Amber White, have also announced plans to run.

Several members of the Flint City Council say a Genesee Circuit judge adjourned their court-ordered mediation on Wednesday, Jan. 8, without resolving an impasse over the appointment of a new 3rd Ward council member.
