Air flow across the sensor diode then results in a voltage difference between the two ends of the meter causing it to deflect. The marked (*) 1N4148 diode should be exposed to the same air as the ...
Posted in Misc Hacks, Tool Hacks Tagged 1n4148, casserole dish, ... Any diode will work but the small glass encapsulated ones have a much lower thermal mass and better response time.
BTW a tiny 1N4148 switching diode (while you can) isn’t recommended for 200mA. The forward voltage drop would be around 1V instead of 0.7V. Might want to read the datasheet there.
This digital thermometer circuit diagram uses a common 1N4148 diode as the temperature sensor. The temperature coefficient of the diode, -2 mV/°C is exploited for this application to create an ...
The diodes are 1N4148-type devices. Yet because they must be matched, they're often part of a transistor array (short the collector-base junction and use the emitter-base junction as the diode).
Buffer with textbook 1N4148 overvoltage-protection diodes. Complete distortion cancellation isn’t possible with this circuit. Dotted trace is the measurement floor; 20-dBu input in all cases.
