Shane Pinto scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period and the Ottawa Senators beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1.

Pinto broke a 1-1 tie at 10:47. Matthew Highmore’s initial sharp-angled shot from the right side of the net deflected high off the stick of Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, and Highmore then batted the puck out of the air to the left post, where it deflected in off of Pinto.

Pinto’s goal could definitely be considered lucky after Matthew Highmore’s pass deflected off Pinto’s knee to give Ottawa a 2-1 lead with 9:13 remaining in regulation. “Yeah, I really don't know what happened honestly,” Pinto said. “Just went to the net, Highsey found a way to hit me and just hit off my knee, and it's nice to get one of those.”
