U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday said the United States needs to control Greenland to ensure international security.
Some of Trumps threats to take over Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal are based on actual U.S. strategic goals. Others are just idiotic.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he wants to seize Greenland to take advantage of its strategic location and vast natural resources.
A Danish Member of the European Parliament had some pointed words for President Donald Trump. As he did during his first term, Trump has expressed interest in attempting to acquire Greenland – the large and autonomous Danish territory between Canada and Iceland. Politicians in Denmark and Greenland have said the territory is not for sale.
President Trump said Denmark will “come along” on the potential sale of Greenland and emphasized the U.S. and others need the Arctic island to fortify international security in the region.
Greenlanders do not want to follow American policy on China. And a large minority view Chinese influence in the world positively.
A new USA TODAY/Suffolk University found a little more than half of Americans don't support Donald Trump's proposal to acquire Greenland.
President Trump was eager on Monday to point out contrasts with his Democratic predecessor, including a free-wheeling Oval Office press conference.
