"A Minecraft Movie" is powering to the $1 billion mark while "Sinners" opened to $61 million at the global box office.

Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” led by twin Michael B. Jordans, launched with $45.6 million in ticket sales in U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to studio estimates.

Sinners” has generated an estimated $45 million at the box office, up from original projections of $40 million after an influx of moviegoers went to see the Ryan Coogler-directed film Saturday.
