It took Daler Singh six months and $45,000 to reach the United States last month without paperwork. Within three weeks of his arrival, he was sent back to his native India on a military plane, his hands and legs cuffed throughout the journey.

The deportation came a week before Trump is expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington. All immigrants, barring children, were handcuffed during the flight, The Times of India and the Indian Express newspapers reported,

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday launched a sharp criticism at the Central government over the recent deportation of over 100 Indian nationals who were allegedly living illegally in the United States.

Opposition lawmakers in India's parliament are protesting the US deportations of Indian immigrants. A US military plane carrying 104 Indian migrants-- deported as part of US President Donald Trump's immigration agenda-- landed in northern India's Punjab State on Wednesday.

The deported Indians alleged that their hands and legs were cuffed throughout the journey and they were unshackled only after landing at the Amritsar airport.
