PHILADELPHIA — The lane opened and Donovan Mitchell attacked. As he soared to the basket, two points — and a comfortable lead in the final 90 seconds — were there for the taking.

Mitchell scored 23 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and dished out nine assists, leaving him one dime shy of his first career triple-double. With less than two minutes to go and the Cavaliers nursing a seven-point lead, Mitchell drove aggressively to the basket—only to pass out of a wide-open look to center Evan Mobley in the corner.

On Wednesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers survived a valiant effort from the terribly undermanned Philadelphia 76ers that was missing all three of its stars to extend their winning streak to 13 to start the season with a 114-106 win.
