The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are working toward a new contract for wide receiver Chris Godwin as general manager Jason Licht and head coach Todd Bowles rained praise on him when speaking to reporters at the scouting combine Tuesday in Indianapolis.

Bucs GM Jason Licht said Tuesday at the NFL Combine that he's hopeful Tampa Bay and wide receiver Chris Godwin can come to an agreement on an extension.

While no player has been franchise-tagged three times since the 2006 CBA made such a move prohibitive, the Buccaneers would still like to keep Chris Godwin off the free agent market.

Bucs general manager Jason Licht has gotten used to speaking about key in-house free agents at the NFL Scouting Combine in recent years, and his Tuesday morning sessions with both national and local media members were no different.
