Carrie Underwood sang “America the Beautiful” a cappella at Donald Trump ‘s swearing-in ceremony during Monday’s 2025 inauguration. The singer was dressed in a sleeveless midi dress with a small, draped collar and light ruching down the front.

Underwood was reportedly not thrilled as how her rendition went down, according to the Daily Mail. She allegedly felt that she was not “afforded the same level of respect” as other singers have in the past,

Today, the country music singer took to the stage, which was moved inside reportedly due to cold weather, to sing "America the Beautiful" with the Armed Forces Chorus. A 30-second silence ensued. Then, just when it seemed like the music was working, the audio swiftly cut out before she could begin singing.

Underwood, whose career took off after she won "American Idol" in 2005, is set to perform "America the Beautiful" before Trump takes the oath of office on Jan. 20. The Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club will accompany her. Opera singer Christopher Macchio will perform the national anthem.
