DC streets under inspection after military parade as crews clean up, remove steel plates

In preparation for the parade, the city installed more than 200 steel plates and rubber mats to protect D.C.’s historic streets. Each plate weighed more than 1,000 pounds, and as of Sunday evening, crews were seen using heavy equipment to lift the final ones from Ohio Drive, Constitution Avenue, and Independence Avenue.
