LONDON (Reuters) - Britain on Thursday summoned the Russian ambassador to London for a meeting with a senior British official to revoke the accreditation of a Russian diplomat.

Britain said on Thursday it would revoke the accreditation of a Russian diplomat, in retaliation to a similar move made by Moscow last year.

A Russian diplomat has had their accreditation revoked by the UK in a tit-for-tat move after Moscow expelled a British official last year.Russian ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin was summoned to the Foreign Office to be informed of the move by the Government.

A Russian diplomat has been expelled from the UK in the latest escalation of a tit-for-tat spat after Moscow threw out a British official last year. Foreign Secretary David Lammy said action had been taken "following Russia's recent expulsion of a British diplomat" in November.
