Northern California is bracing for another winter storm this week, which is set to bring heavy rain and snow and impact holiday travelers. Here's the timing and totals we're expecting.

An atmospheric river is expected to bring torrential rain to California this week, threatening parts of the state with flash floods and mudslides.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The weather forecast for the Sacramento region as well as the rest of Northern California will have rain and snow with some stronger winds Saturday. The weather from Friday to Sunday will be wet during a weekend which often has high impacts for activities. The rainy pattern looks to continue next week, too.

The seemingly endless cycle of snow, torrential rain and disruptive weather will continue this weekend as another powerful storm system lashes the central and eastern U.S., with the added threat of a multiday severe weather outbreak.

"Some of this will fall as ice or snow, but we're talking about over an inch of liquid with this system," Cindy Fitzgibbon said.
