The county remains mum on whether it will appeal the judge’s ruling that could reduce real estate taxes for some and raise them for others.

In the judgement, it states ‘Jackson County Petitioners failed to provide adequate notice to approximately 75% Jackson County real property owners who faced increases of 15% or more; that the Jackson County Petitioners sent notices to property owners about interior inspections which misstated the applicable law’

A judge has ruled in favor of the Missouri State Tax Commission, siding with the state’s claim that Jackson County’s 2023 property tax valuations were unlawful and must be capped at a 15 percent increase from 2022.
