The city granted autonomous car company Waymo a permit to begin testing eight autonomous vehicles (AV) in parts of Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. The permit requires to have a trained AV-specialist behind the wheel at all times.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Mayor Adams and the New York City Department of Transportation have granted Waymo a waiver to test "a limited number" of self-driving cars in parts of Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. They will be permitted to test up to eight driverless vehicles until late September 2025.
