A family and a cold case detective are still seeking justice 30 years after the murder of a 15-year-old boy, who was shot while riding his bike home in South Los Angeles. Ronald Palmer said the pain of losing his son was unbearable.

"She saw who was about to shoot her," Gianino said at a news conference Tuesday about the break in the cold case. "She ran around the building screaming for help as she was shot dead in front of one of the apartment doors.

Those awarded include a detective who helped secure a conviction in the disappearance of a 15-year-old, and three people who assisted a victim of sexual abuse.
