The character known as Ororo Munroe first appeared in 1975's Giant-Size X-Men #1. Hailing from a long line of African witch-priestesses, she's widely considered one of the most powerful mutants on the planet, and a natural leader.

Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has revealed her next dream role is to play Storm from X-Men in a Marvel Studios film. Erivo told the National Board of Review that she wants to explore the character's depth and "inner turmoil" more than what's been done previously.

After defying gravity in Wicked, it sounds like a superhero role might be next for Cynthia Erivo as a new rumour claims she's among the actors Marvel Studios is considering for the MCU's Ororo Munroe.

As for Marvel, the studio's next project is Captain America: Brave New World, which arrives this February 14. The film sees Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson go up against Harrison Ford's Red Hulk (AKA President Ross) and Giancarlo Esposito's Sidewinder.
