The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said 54-year-old Kevin Wade O’Neal was arrested Friday and charged with 11 counts of attempted first-degree murder for the attempted murders of nine detectives and deputies, 14 counts of possessing prohibited weapons and one count of possessing explosive components.

Officers found 14 improvised explosive devices while executing a search warrant for a man who had threatened to kill public officials and tried to detonate the devices as he was being arrested, Tennessee authorities said Saturday.

Sheriff's deputies in Tennessee found 14 improvised explosive devices in the home of a man who allegedly was planning to detonate them when law enforcement arrived, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
