Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who has been part of several landmark Supreme Court judgements such as scrapping the electoral bonds scheme and upholding abrogation of Article 370, will be sworn in as the 51st Chief Justice of India on Monday.

In his last judgment before retirement, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud vehemently denounced "bulldozer justice," stating that such justice is "unknown to any civilized system of jurisprudence." He cautioned against selective demolitions as acts of reprisal and emphasized that state officials involved in such actions must be held accountable.
