The death toll from heavy floods and mudslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka rose to 132, with 176 people still missing, authorities said Saturday.
Parts of Asia are suffering some of the worst floods the region has seen in years, with millions affected across Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. At least 80 people have died and dozens more are still missing after severe weather hit Indonesia this week and the death toll in Sri Lanka has reached 56, with 21 missing.
The death toll from floods and landslides following cyclonic rains in the Indonesian island of Sumatra has risen to 303, the head of the country's disaster mitigation agency said on Saturday, up from a previous figure of 174 dead.
