MEXICO CITY -- Hurricane Gil was continuing to churn in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Saturday but is not expected to threaten land and is likely to decrease in strength rapidly over the weekend, forecasters said.

The Pacific Ocean is filled with tropical activity as forecasters track Hurricane Gil, which is strengthening as it moves into the Central Pacific Basin, in addition to several other disturbances that could get their own names in the coming days.

The Pacific hurricane season has been busy, with nine named storms and 3-soon-to-be-4 hurricanes, but August is a big month for Atlantic storms.
