A Trenton, New Jersey, man killed his girlfriend in a Bensalem, Pennsylvania, motel and then returned to the city and fired a handgun at several residents and police officers while looking for the woman’s family members in a West Ward neighborhood, authorities alleged Thursday.

A 51-year-old man is in custody after a deadly shooting in a Bensalem motel that prompted a frantic search of dozens of hotel rooms in the area. As that search was ongoing in Bucks County, the suspect was in a violent standoff with police in Trenton.

Police said investigators located Maisha Coon, 49, of Trenton in a room at the Sleep Inn who had been shot twice after receiving a call about someone shot at a hotel in Bensalem.
