For years, Macomb County drain chief Candice Miller has said Oakland County pollutes Lake St. Clair with sewage. Now it's her turn to get an earful.

Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller said Oakland County is not solely responsible for Macomb County’s E.coli-related beach closures, but “it’s a big reason.”

Jim Nash said the George W. Kuhn Retention Treatment Basin is "a state-of-the-art facility." The basin occasionally discharges into the Red Run Drain.

Macomb and Oakland counties dispute over sewage discharge into Lake St. Clair, with accusations exchanges around water quality and infrastructure.

Macomb County is accusing Oakland County of discharging sewage into a major stormwater canal leading into Lake St. Clair following wet weather.

After Macomb County's public works commissioner chastised it's neighboring county's systems and blamed them for releasing untreated water into its rivers, the water resources division fired back from one of Oakland County's facilities.
