France’s former president Nicolas Sarkozy is standing trial over allegations of having received millions of euros in illegal financing from Libya’s late leader Muammar Gaddafi for his successful 2007 presidential bid.

Nicolas Sarkozy is standing trial on charges of sealing a “pact of corruption” with Muammar Gaddafi in which the French ex-president received tens of millions of euros from the late Libyan dictator.

Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy is again on trial from this Monday, as he has been charged with accepting illegal campaign financing in an alleged pact with the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
