The Utah Utes have been perhaps the most disappointing team in the Big 12 this season. After jumping from the Pac-12 over the summer, the Utes were picked to win the conference at July’s media day. Media members thought veteran quarterback Cam Rising would propel the Utes to the conference championship and College Football Playoff.

In a year that has been devasted by season-ending injuries, the Utes football team has suffered another one. After making his first career start, quarterback Brandon Rose has been lost for the year after suffering an undisclosed injury in Saturday’s 22-21 loss to BYU.

Utah will be without yet another quarterback for the rest of the 2024 season. Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said Tuesday night that Brandon Rose would miss the rest of the season. Rose made the first start of his career in BYU’s controversial 22-21 win over Utah in Week 11 but suffered a lower leg injury in the loss.

The third-year QB came on in relief of Isaac Wilson last week vs. Houston, but prior to that had barely seen the field.
