Emotional scenes unfolded outside the IRS building in Holtsville Thursday as workers were seen visibly upset, walking out of the building. Employees said more than 100 of their colleagues were laid off Thursday.

Around 30 to 45 New Orleans-based IRS employees were fired on Thursday, according to National Treasury Employees Union President for Louisiana and Arkansas, David Carrone. “Today felt like a funeral," Carrone said.
