The San Francisco Giants swung a major trade for a star infielder Sunday in a deal with the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the Giants, ending a saga that began in spring training when Boston's front office moved Devers to designated hitter from third base.

Red Sox starters have been red-hot lately, at 4-0 with a 1.05 ERA in their last five starts. And they could be getting help.

Boston placed Abreu on the IL Monday and promoted top Roman Anthony from Triple-A Worcester. Next Thursday (an off day before a series in San Francisco) is the first day he is eligible to return.

The Rockies, as is their custom, rallied late. Before the ninth-inning rally, they made the game interesting in the seventh when second baseman Estrada — the former Giant — ripped a two-run double to left off San Francisco reliever Sean Hjelle. Jordan Beck reached on an infield hit and Hilliard drew a walk to set up the rally.
