As new security concerns are surfacing in light of the recent attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Tampa Bay leaders said they're making safety a priority.

Law enforcement throughout the greater Tampa Bay region want people on high alert following the recent attack in New Orleans this past New Years. The man who killed 14 in the New Orleans attack also visited Tampa a couple months prior, but law enforcement say they're not exactly sure why as of yet.

The Tampa Police Department, along with their public safety partners, shared an update Tuesday afternoon regarding plans to keep all the Gasparilla events fun and safe.

Following the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans, Tampa city officials emphasized they are ready for the annual Gasparilla season, enlisting the support of more than 20 federal, state and local agencies.
