The U.S. boycott of the Johannesburg G20 meeting appears to be part of a larger campaign against South Africa by right-wing U.S. politicians. Earlier this week, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz accused South Africa of unfairly expelling Taiwan from its offices in Pretoria. He warned that the move would “deepen tensions” between Washington and South Africa.
