Not at all. In fact it is a 10 hour round trip hike to the tram from the center. Idylwild is on the west side of the mountain range.The tram is located on the east side of the mountain range and is accessed near Palm Springs. It is totally worth the drive to get there, you will never forget the experience. The top of the tram offers several levels of hiking from easy walks to experienced trails both with great views. There is also a restaurant at the top. Do it! But not from Idywild, unless you are nearly superhuman!
